'01 GA GT vs '96 v6

ok guys here the situation. my friend brags all about how his 2001 grand am gt is the most amazing thing, and I intend to race him soon once i get my engine replaced (dont ask). So i know the thing pushes like 175 with a 3.4 and ram air, and my camaro about 200 with the 3.8. Both of ours are stock and A4's so nothing will give either of us an advantage. Id like to hear what you guys think about the comparison.

Re: '01 GA GT vs '96 v6

Those grand am GTs are fast. But the 3.8 in your maro is a real nice powerfull motor for a v 6. My guess is you should take him but I am not sure...

Re: '01 GA GT vs '96 v6

if you get your self a little cold air intake action it would help.

Re: '01 GA GT vs '96 v6

01 gt had a 3.4? I thought those were 3800's. You both have about the same weight i think so you should beat him.

They both have the same 3.8 engine.. its a tie.. basicly whoever gets the better launch will be considered the 'winner' but its a tie.

Re: '01 GA GT vs '96 v6

Get some gears, strip soem wiehgt, if youve got some cash 3" catback... save the fins on your lid and get a high flow filter, get the free ram air mod... all things to give you the edge. These guys confirmed wht i thought, it's FWD 3.8 vs. RWD 3.8 and AFAIK the GAGT is lighter.

Re: '01 GA GT vs '96 v6

.4 more litres doesnt make that much more of a bigger motor..

Anyway it'll be a tie.. like I already said before. Im still leaning towards the pontiac just because it would be able to get a better launch with the FWD..

Re: '01 GA GT vs '96 v6

I'm leaning towards the grand am. I have a 95 gt, quad with a 5speed, it will eat my friend's 00gt until about 90, then he starts catching up fast. And I can take a v6 camaro from a launch, but I'm not entirely stock....
