Slow vs Fast break in

Anyone used a fast break in method? I'v allways used the "pamper for 500 miles, oil change, normal for 2000, oil change, normal from then on out" method and havnt had any problems, but there have been alot of articals posted in the last few years about fast break in procedures working better, ones where you run it hard for like 4 minutes, then cool down/oil change, then run it hard again, then repeat. Just wandering if anyone has ever tried this method.

Iv tried it on a race engine, and it seemed to work.
Although other unrelated problems ment the engine had to be rebuilt not long after, so I can't comment on how it effected long term engine wear.

many manufacturers are doing initial break in on dyno's at the factory (and they do it hard)....so its pretty mute as far as cars go.

But if you want to read a lot of interesting info on the subject, in motorcycle land, this guy is very contraversial, but he has a lot of very convincing evidence that hard break in is the best way all the way around.

(incase it wasn't obvious, I always break in my engines hard.)
