Next Prius to get 94 mpg
The next Toyota Prius will offer an astonishing 113 mpg, according to a report in the U.K.’s AutoExpress magazine. (Note: 113 mpg in the U.K. is equal to 94 mpg here in North America). “The whole electrical system has been redesigned to improve economy” said a Toyota engineer was quoted as saying. “We are working on a prototype that runs solely on the electric motor in slow traffic, but switches to engine and motor drive when higher speeds are needed.” The 0-62 mph time will also be improved by more than a second, according to the report, bringing it to well under 10 seconds. Much of the improvement can be attributed to the use of lithium-ion batteries instead of nickel-hydride units. The lithium-ion batteries are smaller, lighter, and have greater electrical output.

Re: Next Prius to get 94 mpg
That's actually pretty impressive a car with that mpg can go 0-60 in a sub 10 second time.

Re: Next Prius to get 94 mpg
Look at Musashi go. Always saying he didn't need a big V8 to prove anything and that thats why he had his 3kgt. Now he's driving 6.0L 400hp V8 and talking about the price of manhood because its a gas saver. LOL

Re: Next Prius to get 94 mpg
is that with the new way of measuring mpg? The EPA is using a new testing system that takes effect in 2008 so i guess not. Most city ratings will drop by 11 to 15% with highway falling around 10%. Hybrid city ratings will come down 18-22%.

Re: Next Prius to get 94 mpg
Ahh, can't pull my car around with something like that. So I'll just stick with my truck and its 20 mpg (about 14 or 15 pulling the car though).
Might even buy one in the next little bit that won't do that good! (03 or 04 3500 extended cab Chevrolet Dually).

Re: Next Prius to get 94 mpg
If they could sell these for $20,000 they would sell like 1 million per year easy. They would just need to find a way to make them that fast.
