Dome lights won't come on

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I went to replace the light on the passenger side under the dashboard and as I pulled the old bulb out of the socket, the fixture sparked and the other dome lights went dead.

At first I thought I had blown a fuse, but I checked the fuse and it is okay. None of the dome lights will come on now at all. I already checked the other fuses and the fuses in the power distribution center and they are all fine.

Any ideas?

Re: Dome lights won't come on

Yes. The other lights were on when I pulled the old bulb out of the socket (I had the door open).

I hope it didn't fry anything when it shorted out. I'm going to check the relay (if there even is one for the lights) when I get a chance.

I wonder if it could have caused damage to the system bus in some way...is that possible?
