How do you free up a Tracker 4WD hub..?

I have a '93 Tracker 1.6 L 4WD.

The right side hub will not turn from free to lock by hand - it is stuck.

How can I free it up?

I don't want to try to force it with pliers.... might break it!

Would spraying it with WD-40 get it loose or screw something up?

DoctorBill

I would spray it with liquid wrech (its like wd40 on crack) Or PB Blaster.
choice is up to you.

Got it loose finally with penetrating oil and some pliers.

Be nice to have some heavy plastic or wood tool to give one more leverage.....

The Good Dr,.
I have seen WARN hub tools at www.4wd.com. It's like a big socket that is notched for the thumb/turn bar

Re: How do you free up a Tracker 4WD hub..?

i just went through this a few weeks ago you need to remove the hub and dissasemble it to clean it up its probobly rusted . i got mine to break free too but the hub was not locking in even after it turned.

take the whole hub off the axel first then remove the allen bolts on the work bench then tap the locking gear out of the hub (the reason i say to do it this way is that the spring and keeper are a pain in the butt to re-assemble) then clean up the gears with a good cleaner for removing rust like aerocroil, lube it and reassemble .................good as new
