1998 JGC Rear Power Door Lock Problem

I've searched through the threads and don't see a related issue. Here's the scoop. My driver rear door wasn't locking using the power door locks; the passenger rear door would sometimes lock, sometimes it wouldn't. Both would unlock fine. So I took apart the driver rear door to see if I could lube/clean the lock parts and/or replace the actuator. I sprayed the parts with a teflon bike lubricant; but no effect. The door still acts like it wants to lock, but doesn't lock all the way. If you put just a small amount of pressure on the lock when you hit the power door lock switch; it locks fine. All doors lock/unlock fine manually. Thus, I started to look towards the actuator. Come to find out that the actuator is part of the latch and $125 for a dealer part.

I was then going to see if I could isolate better the problem on the passenger rear door. Come to find out that when the driver rear door lock is unplugged; the passenger rear door lock works. It locks and unlocks all the time; though it seems a little more sluggish than the front locks.

My next test is going to be to take apart the passenger rear door, and unplug the passenger side to see if the driver door lock works when the passenger lock is unplugged.

The front power door locks work fine. Both locking and unlocking.

Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

Thanks!
A.J.
