97 cav probs Please Help

This might be 2 seperate problems, but i think they might be related.

First, when i go over 45mph, it makes a loud humming sound, almost like i have a flat tire, but without the thumping. Tires are not to old. Friend said maybe wheel bearings.

Second, when i am hitting my brakes, about every other time it makes a rattling sound. it stops okay, but i don't know what it is.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Re: 97 cav probs Please Help

Its the bearings. I just changed both front bearings on a 97, they are 65 dollars appiece at auto zone . Easy job to do although you need a big socket for the half shaft (axle) nut. 1and 1/8 I think also a torque wrench that nutgets torqued to 180 ft lbs. You also need a set of allen wrenches to remove the brake calipers and a star bit to remove the bearing hubs. Takes about 30 minutes per side.
