Upgrades 00 5.3L Z71

I currently own a 2000 silverado ext cab Z71 with a 5.3l engine. So far i have a single 3.5" cat-back exauhst, AEM Brute Force CAI, and a Hypertech PP3.
What would be some nice upgrades that i could throw on the truck for around $1500-2000 that would push some nice horsepower? I was thinking maybe injectors, camshaft, rear end, whatever it takes to make my truck the meanest mf'er in my whole town of 6000 people. I want to be able to go insane fast!!!

Larger cam(I like my Thunder Racing TR224), headwork, springs(Comp 918s), 8.1L injectors, a higher stall torque converter, and some tranny tweeks and you will have no problem with majority of the trucks in your area. Also look for some Long tubes and some electric fans. Get ready to chunk that Hypertech when you start to get serious with the motor internals. It won't help you anymore. You don't need forced induction to make these trucks quick. The LS1 has opened an unlimited door of opportunity for us.
