runing rich for some reason

i was being followed by my buddy and he said i was blowing black smoke and it smelled like gas. which i figure is a sign of runing rich does anyone know what i should check to fix it.

i have brand new plugs and wires that are gaped correctly and have like 50 miles on them. and everything i can find seems to be hooked up right.

do a boost leak test

alright ill do that as soon as i wake up in the morning im pretty sure my turbo is leaking boost at my o2 housing it doesnt pull right and makes a whistling noise.

if it was at your o2 housing it would be leaking exhaust. You were probably thinking your j pipe. Thats a common spot

alright so i did a leak test and all that my one lower intercooler pipe was leaking so i fixed that and redid the test and found nothing at all. but that wasnt the problem at all. now my car runs like shit and stumbles under acceleration, and makes wierd poping noises when i press the gas.

sounds like a spark issue, check deeper into the system

sounds like the same thing that my car is doing. That being the igntiion timing is retarding. I think my problem is caused by the knock sensor.

is there a way to check the knock sensor or should i jsut replace it cause i mean its a 92 and has been on there its whole life so its probally bad or going bad.

I wouldnt randomly replace it, its a $40 part and a bitch to get to. If you can wait let me figure out the problem on my car(thursday, tomorrow is my day off) and I will let you know whats up. If not try doing some tests, since you have a 1g you can adjust your base timing with your cas so you could try that to

alright well let me know. yea i could do that it is idling high also like at 1300 rpm instead of the 800 or whatever it should be at
