HELP! 97 LeSabre transmission

My 97 LeSabre Limited just got some tranny problem. I didn't drive it a lot recently, so after a few days of sitting, when I start it, it won't go into any of the gears, neither forward nor reverse. I have to let the engine run like 10 to 15 minutes, then it would shift and move just like fine. I don't know if this is only a solenoid problem or a sign of the tranny going dead. It should be a 4T60E in my LeSabre. Any idea? Greatly appreciate your help!

Re: HELP! 97 LeSabre transmission

I had the same promblem, I had to get a new transmission. I paid $750 for a new tranny then $350 to have them switch over all the electronics in the tranny and put it in the car then i ran perfect.

Re: HELP! 97 LeSabre transmission

Hello

What is the condition of your fluid? Fluid level? How many miles on it? on the car? What history do you know about the car....how long have you owned it? Maintance done to the trannie?

It sounds like a bad internal seal .....not enough psi for the trannie to work until it's warmed up.

How much searching in the LaSabre forum have you done?

Regards

Dan

Re: HELP! 97 LeSabre transmission

Checked fluid and fluid level all alright, the car had 180K on it, but the tranny was rebuild once at around 80K. Just found this problem by pulling in and out the gerage, so I haven't road tested it and don't know how bad that would behave on the road. I would give it a extensive drive to find out.
