2001 Maxima, what should be done first?

I just bought a 2001 Maxima SE 5 speed manual, it's totally stock. I was just wondering what bolt on parts could be added to increase hp/torque quick and cheap. I know there is a cool air intake, of course, but there has to be more to add then just that.
BTW *only 31,245 miles on it for 12 thousand...pimpin'.*

More effective than 'cool' airintake is to record one muscle car sounds, replay it aloud...

If u know whattodo, u may get 15% hp increase, loss of torque, with two hands & blkanddecker, ...only via streamlining intake flow. But u can never have bigandsmall: hp is not in the same end of the sausage as torque -or- a thin wallet.

Re: 2001 Maxima, what should be done first?

Pls read the link.

Stock cars limit air intake to get noise level down. Some horses are lost... The cheap pwr comes from increased intake; coolair isnt there, just ambient air as in any car. After intake some horses (5-20), 200$ (?), plus work, might become with better exhaust.

Theres two ends in the 'sausage', goes somewhat like this: Longer intake, more torque at low rpm. Shorter&larger ai intake, more pwr (upper rpm). Intake tuning is relatively cheap, or just work. Typically lots notches, crimps, wrongly placed seals causing flow disruptions. See the link. Your limiter was that cheapness; changing engine charasteristics with pwr&torque doesnt come cheap: pistons, cams, valves, heads, turbo...

I absolutely love my berk intake with the Apexi filter. I also have the exhaust redone though and they work hand in hand.
