do i really need an amp

i got this cheapy 200wat subwoofer and want to know if i really need an amp to make it work? if not, how would i connect it. thanks

yes you will need an amp to power it to make any kind of sound you would expect to get from a sub. there are many amps that will power that for under a hundred bucks. but if you really dont want to amp it you can splice into your rear speaker wires and use those but youll only be getting like 30 watts to it so it would be kinda pointless.

if you want to make the sub do its purpose, which is make bass, then you def. need an amp..

but like rick said, you could jus mix it in with some wire from your rear speakers, but it'd be like havin an oversized speaker in the back, won't put out any more, will jus share the power originally directed to the rear speakers which is stupid
