Stereo anti-theft code lost

My girlfriend has a malibu with the anti-theft lock stereo in it.

The battery had started to leak, and apparently the ground cable had become corroded beyond recognition. Now, as we all know, it is a crime against humanity when a girl asks her boyfriend about anything technical. So, she has her little brother fix the problem for her.

Unfortunately, what they failed to realize was that the radio was equipped with a theftlock. So, now the stereo need the code so we can use it.

As of yet, I have not located the code in the glove box, manual, ect. I truthfully do not know where the original code is put or written down or whatever. I do know that the original owner of the car had it at one point, as he had put an aftermarket stereo system in and replaced it with the stock one when he sold it and the stock one was working. I have no means of contacting the original owner at this point.

Also, if you could please provide the proper proceedure for entering the code (I have seen a few different ones).

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Stereo anti-theft code lost

Have you tried the dealership. I have a factory manual for my 2003 Impala. In the manual they do not come out and say it, it sounds like the dealer or the radio man that travels around to the dealerships should be able to unlock the radio. I would also try asking the aftermarket stereo installers.

Thumbs up Re: Stereo anti-theft code lost

Don't pay money for this service. Just press and hold preset buttons 2 and 3 or 1 and 4 on your radio. Copy the digits displayed by your radio. Let go of the buttons. Next press the am/fm button and copy the next 3 digits. You now should have a six digit code. Call (800) 537-5140 and enter 139010 or 202107. After this, you will be prompted to input your six digit code. Put in your code using your phone buttons and this service center will then give you the unlock code for your car. Simple. Don't pay the dealer or anyone else for this service. I can't believe everyone's out to make a quick buck nowadays ! Please be kind enough to let me know if this still works as it did last year.

Re: Stereo anti-theft code lost

I sure as heck am going to try this weekend. I will set a password and see if it works. Does that retreival process only work after the radio is locked out or will it retreive if the radio is working and a password is set. ?

what are these numbers 139010 or 202107, are they dealer codes ?
