engines

So I was looking at this ste that had a bunch of JDM engines, there was an RB25DET for like $2000 or so with the tranny. Under its description it said it had like 200 some HP and like 214 lbs-ft of torque. It also said it redlines at 8200 RPM, do these engines really redline at over 8000RPM? If so, I gotta get me one of those.

Re: engines

Here is the site http://www.jdmracingmotors.com/index...s&brand=nissan I wanted CA18 because its a small engine and I would think that it would rev high and be somewhat reliable and good on gas.

Re: engines

i actually have to say that they're a reputable company.. they're only a few hours away from me.. i spoke with them about a silvia conversion and might be buying from them when the time comes. i'd verify what comes with what if you buy an engine from anybody, let alone this company.. it might be missing some key stuff.. but you never know, they might just wanna move some engines

Re: engines

yeah SRs can rev, but they generally dont make a ton of power up above 6500-7000
CAs are a little better, and RBs are quite better.
most of it has to do with the fact that the RB motors have a very high flowing cylinder head. SRs are at best average.

but this is all moot because most of your average SR-into-240 "enthusiasts" (ahem..ricers..ahem(who said that?!?!?!?)) cant tell or dont care

LOL
Ah, don't hurt their feelings
CA, known as the 4cyl RB.
CA, SR swaps = stupid simple and cheaper. And still way more fun and power than you'd expect.

RB's are for the Hardcore man, You can get an rb20 swap for the price of an SR swap, but you've gotta know your sht. And don't even talk about replacement part prices. You'll spend more money rebuildng your motor than you ever spent on the entire swap.

Re: engines

acutally ive seen sr's rev into the 11's, but of course those were n/a and n2 endurance cars...the highest revving sr turbo ive seen is like 9k or something...and it was a drag car

Re: engines

I think I would rather get the CA because of gas prices. What about the SR20VE? or could it even go into a RWD car?

HELL NO, but you will occassionally find a Ricer with an SR.
I love the SR, Just saw my second one last night. It's still boggles my mind to think an all aluminum 2.0L 4cyl can put down 300+RWHP reliablely.
