Question Strut Mounts

I have an 04 GL1. I purchased it with 28K miles. At 32K driver side strut mount broke. Fixed under warranty. Now at 45K miles the passenger side mount is rattling. I assume it suffered the same fate. Anyone else had a similar problem? If you had it fixed outside of the warranty how much did it cost for the repair?

Re: Strut Mounts

If you decide to get it fixed rather than D.I.Y., I would go somewhere like Mineke (sp?).

Re: Strut Mounts

The job is DIY. Major tool needed is the strut spring compressor which can be rented from Autozone. We had our driver's side done under warranty on the Alero. It was a creaking-rubber on rubber type sound. The strut mount starting acting up on my brother's Grand Am GT. We took it apart and lubed the upper strut mounts and load bearing with silicone grease like for polyurethane bushings. Put it back together and no noise. Even the alignment came out good.
