blow off valve
As some of you may have read from my previous posts I recently bought a 01 audi a4 1.8l turbo. So I am kind of new to the audi/turbo world. Well I would really like to put on a blow off valve, and hoping some of you guys might be able to help me out. I have been looking on ebay for blow off valves, is ther a specific one I should be looking for. What kind should I get and will it bolt right on. Does anyone have any suggestions or instructions on how to put one on, and what kind should I get. Thanks...

you shouldnt get a blow off valve on a vw/audi.. they use mass air flow sensors...and a blow off valve vents to the atmosphere and the maf misses that air and causes you to run terrible rich.... get a quality diverter valve... the EVOMS dv is pretty damn loud...and get an open element filter setup...

I dont know..if its cheap enough.. might be worth the gamble...if cost is a concern...upgrade to the 710n which is an OEM tt dv... its like $30 and superior to stock.... but if yu're not chipped..not sure how much 'sound' you're gonna get from 8lbs of boost...open element = cone filter..

Well thanks for the reply. I am just looking for something that will improve the sound of the turbo for now without spending too much (this is my 1st turboed car so I don't know much about them). I see you mentioned chipping it, how much would that cost and how much power would I gain and could I do it myself.

well..you cant really do it yourself.. a dealer has to either solder a socket in or solder the chip in directly (depending on mfr.).. you can gain 50hp and 50 ft lbs of torgue...they're about $400 or so all said and done... go to www.giacusa.com or www.goapr.com and see who has a dealer in your area..those are the two mfr's to stick with.
