Re: headlight cover controller,1989 gtc turbo

One thing for sure. The convertible top doesn't need to come off to get at the window motor. Definitely dealer bullshit. Also, a good way to check if the alternator is doing its job...while the car is running, remove the contacts from the battery. If the car dies, it's a good indication you need a new alternator. If it continues to run then you just saved yourself from replacing a perfectly good alternator and as you said, about $120. I wouldn't recommend you get a cheap battery either. The older the car, the better the battery you need. Typically.

As for the headlight covers, my car doesn't have these, but it doesn't sound right that they would drain the battery unless there was a short somewhere or unless they were hotwired. Of course if a car is let sit for a while the battery will probably be dead since multiple parts in a car constantly trickle a small amount of power from the battery. One of the major ones is an alarm system. These have been known to drain a car after only a week on some occasions. Back to the topic, however....I haven't dealt with headlight covers, so I can't really give you a proper opinion.

Re: headlight cover controller,1989 gtc turbo

small update;had to rebuild battery box-support/cruise controll bracket, put in plastic battery tray from autozone. after wards i reset the time on the clock ,but when my wife moved the car a day or two ago it went back to 12:00..just like the battery was disconnected...was told that this has been going on for a while with this car,,,,,do anybody know whats going on here??? ...thanks tony c. ...... p.s. left rear window, power, the cable had come loose at some point and screwed up on the roller, ruined the cables,i took off the motor and bolted a bracket to the frame to hold up the window..cheap fix...found info at faqfarm.com-under auto.info .... think about your wording when u ask ur ??---lots of info thier--big labaron section.oh btw.pop out the back seat bottem, this is held down with very tieght plastic clamps, look for them, they are where u exspect them to be.then remove 2- 10mm bolts holding down seat back plus alot of screws,u can pull the whole assembly back out to get window assembly
