Air Ride Suspension, Help Needed!!
Anyone have schematics showing the wiring to the air ride compressor and also the routing of the air lines?
I have a 97 that the previous owner bypassed the compressor on and installed new air lines from the shocks up to a fitting on the back left panel by the rear power outlet to manually air the shocks. I recently acquired a replacement compressor but now i need to know how the lines should be routed/connected to the compressor. I think the previous owner replaced the stock air fitting because the new lines have threaded fittings where the factory ones have different style connectors. I just need info from a service manual to sort it all out. I have a manual but it doesn't show the air ride system, no info on the wiring to the compressor or the lines, etc. Also, what does the on/off buttons on that rear left panel do? Are they supposed to turn on and off the compressor or something else? I don't think it's for the compressor because otherwise what's to stop from leaving it on and damaging the shocks? Thanks! |

Re: Air Ride Suspension, Help Needed!!
THe buttons activate the compressor but at same time switch the compressor output TO the air valve seen beside to be used to inflate tires and other gadgets... the relay is timed and stops after a few minutes if one forgets....
www.avigex.ca/xport/loadlevellerrelay.jpg This is the diagram for my '93 that uses most probably the same setup. Are you sure the height sensor in the middle of the rear axle is still functional?

Re: Air Ride Suspension, Help Needed!!
That looks nothing like what i have back there.
What i have is two airlines coming up from underneath, one comes from the compressor and the other goes down to a "T" underneath which both of the air shock lines connect to. These are the stock lines that were just disconnected and abandoned. They ran two new air lines from the shocks up to "T" with a fitting that looks like a tire valve and just left the factory lines hanging. It looks like what i need to find is the piece that these two lines connect to and mounts through the panel with the valve for connection to the air hose. There is a loose electrical connector hanging there, two wires, that appears would connect to the air valve/relay setup. One of my neighbors has a 97 like mine, i'm going to take a look at his. I think what the previous owner did was just remove the valve/relay assembly from its mounting hole and replaced it with this "T" fitting to air the new shocks. Now to figure out what the part is called that i need to find to replace it. The sensor underneath seems fine, the only reason they replaced the shocks and bypasses the compressor is because the motor on it seized up and they didn't want to spend the money to replace it. |

Re: Air Ride Suspension, Help Needed!!
Anyone have the diagram like the previous for the 97? It's definitely different than the 93.
I went and looked at a comparable vehicle and i was trying to be careful pulling it apart, not being mine, and there something that looks like the inflator solenoid shown in that diagram but it has an airline on each end and then the fitting that bolts through the panel for the air hose. I don't want to pull it apart anymore than that. I just need to figure out what parts i need to put mine back the way it should be. |

Re: Air Ride Suspension, Help Needed!!
Wow, that link was a huge help! Thanks!!
By looking at that the piece i am missing back there is the auto level control solenoid valve. There is two air hoses and the electrical connector with the DK Blue and Orange wires. I assume the air valve that mounts through the panel is part of this solenoid unit?? While i have the attention of a few helpful members here on this thread, do either of you know where the heck the BCM, Body Control Module, is located on this van? I started another thread asking that question but no replies as of yet. I'm going to look through those diagrams, maybe one of them also mentions the BCM. |
