2000 Taurus Shifting issues

Its been going on for a while, where when i put it into drive it wont engage. I rev the engine but still nothin, then a few seconds later it will engage. There no burning or grinding sounds at all. I've had the fluid flushed and changed. It happens on occation not every time. Any ideas? The VIN says its an SES but the dealer says its an SE if that matters.

Other than that, does it shift fine? It might get the position sensor thingy for the gear select.

Is it floor shift or column shift? You might want to check where the shifter connects to the top of the transmission to see if everything is there and tight.
