Third Brake light out

I recently tried to change my third brake light on my 2002 envoy SLE. However I was told by the Dealer I would need the light for $119.00 the housing for $150.00 and on some envoy models the entire rear window needs to be replaced.

Anyone know about this.

I cant belive there are no response to this question. Has no one had to replace the thrid brake light?

Dosent it concern any of you that it will cost over $300.00 to have it chaged. Thats just parts.

I own a 2000 GMC Envoy, i bought it with a burnt 3rd brake light, turns out with my GM employee discount, the bulb was $151.00, and was a bitch to put in.

Thats sounds about right I was qouted 288.00 for the plastic housing and 118.00 for the bulb. And was told I will probably have to bring it in because its almost impossible to hopen the current housing without destroying it.

What a stupid design. Thats ' Professional Engineering' I guess. You wont see that with Toyota or Honda.
