Question 96 Jetta Trek Electrical Problems

Scenario:
This evening when I unlocked opened my car door the alarm went off. The power locks have stopped working, the interior lights, the power trunk lock does not work and the dash cluster clock looses time. Now the thing will not start.

Questions:
1. How do I disable to the alarm so I can drive?

2. Where do I start to get the electrical problem fixed?

Furlong eh... thats my Last name.

This is a serious problem. Tell the dealership because that kind of thing just shouldn't happen. Disabelling the alarm can be tricky. Like Gone in 60 seconds, I would suggest removing the fuse and disconnecting the horn. And as for getting it to move... good luck... Dubs come with automatic shutoff...

Smile Damn blown fuse

I've never met a Furlong in the US, other than my immediate family. I'm from a place in Canada called Newfoundland and there are tons of Furlongs.

I went through the fuses again and found one blown. I replaced it and voila my door locks started working and the alarm disengaged. Damn chip needed to remap cause I disconnected the battery, but I'm back on the road.

Nice ride. What work have you done on it?

I've got the 96 trek. it is lowered with some street performance package spring shocks and struts, mild cam, abd wires, abd air filter, trw wheels, nitto tires, techtronics stainless exhaust and the second garret chip. It cruises along OK, but the four cylinder is a sled when it comes to acceleration.

Post a picture of your trek!

In about a week or so, well since today is Thursday, and my parts dont come in from Japan until Monday, I'll post pictures of my car somewhere in between Monday and Friday of next week with my next set of modifications. Right now it has a body kit, sublte but not usual, 17 Konigs, and the most unique interior of any Honda... Ill get some photos for that one too... the dealership really set me up with an all red and black leather interior and momo complete set... its a sweet ride so far. Dont plan to race it for a month or so though.

Im from Ireland, born in Ohio though. Maybe were related?

As far as your acceleration goes... get a shorter accelerator block... add some headers with huge bore diameters or try adding a turbo and or intake.
