Oil Pressure Gauge Install...
I recently bought a new guage bezel, more specifically the one that has the two additional guage holes in it. I installed a fuel/air guage to help me tune my V-AFC and new cam, but I need to fill the other whole. I want to install an oil pressure gauge, I think. Are their any recomendations on what other type of gauges I should be looking into? Also, how does an oil pressure gauge work in my Civic? Can I get an electronic one that connects to the ECU somehow, or do I need a mechanical one with a live oil line in the car?

I'm in the same boat as you... just bought the a/f gauge and need another gauge to fill either the pod or the gauge bezel. I was thinkin oil pressure too, but the mechanical oil line is a bitch to install.

first off i wouldnt recommend tuning your vafc with an air fuel ratio gauge, they are notoriously inaccurate with normal o2 sensors.
second they do make electrical oil pressure gauges and i would suggest that over a mechanical. running hot oil lines into the car isnt smart on a street car. you mount them where the stock oil pressure sender unit is. with some gauges you can tap into the stock sender but you will have to use the supplied sender for the oil pressure. you will need a T if you want to retain the stock oil pressure sender. i would also not recommend hooking the sender right up to the T. the vibration from the motor will rattle it to death (i replaced a sender after 5k that was leaking because of that.) just run a braided line to the firewall and strap it there. |
