Suspension

I'm having hellish wheel hop. I have put some of those metal bushings in the rear. Should I be looking for broken parts?

Re: Suspension

Wheel hop in a 240? Never seen it before. Doesn't sound like somethings right there.

Describe the "wheel hop"

Re: Suspension

if ur drifting and shit run the stickys in the front. as far as the wheel hop goes though it could just be bad suspension for the coditions you were pushing your car whats the suspension set up?

Its wheel hop. Ever been to the drag strip and watched a car loose traction and the rear tires bounce? Also going around a turn to fast will give me wheel hop.

All of it is stock except those bushing I put in. I have been under the car looking for broken parts I have not seen anything that looks out of place though. It hops with any loss of traction. Think I'm going to get some of those traction rods and see how that helps. Any sugestions on what I should do 1st? My main goal is quarter mile times.

Re: Suspension

motor mounts, subframe bushings, if it still persists, id say your suspension is less than ideal(read: get coilovers)

Re: Suspension

i think im just running too hard a setup, this was in the rain in the rosebowl parking lot, Full Tein HR Coilovers 1 degree of neg camber up front, 205 goodyear eagle t/a worn half way up front (15 inch), on back pretty new 16 in bridgestone potenza re750 245, I am also running a stiffer rear, open diff and strut bars front and back...

I know it sounds screwed up but what could cause the wheel hop?

Re: Suspension

again, id point to motor/tranny mounts or subframe bushings
also, if your suspension is too hard and your running like 45 series tires, the big sidewalls could sort of become part of the suspension and add flex and soften the spring rate down by the contact patch.
but most likely, the flex and movement in the mounts and subframe is probably the thing causing the suspension to hop separate from the car.

or i doubt this is it, but if your shocks are old, your compression rate couldve fallen some, and it could mean its time for a rebuild, but i think youd be able to tell when you drive around also...

Re: Suspension

I would agree. I could see stiff coilovers conflicting with gushy, soft, stock rubber bushings and cause wheel hop.
