Engine Trouble...again

This past Thursday I was leaving Reliant Center where my employer held an employee appreciation breakfast. My truck started idling very rough, even hick-uping when I gave it gas but finally taking off. It's not even shifting correctly either. When I left work that day and started my truck there was a pop, metal to metal or so it sounded, came from the engine. On the way home, major accident so I sat in traffic for nearly 2 hours and it didn't idle funny. But it didn't sound proper either.

I'm thinking part of the problem is the damn fuel filter and maybe the pressure regulator. AGAIN!!! If that's the case Chevy needs to do a major re-engineering of this particular area b/c we all seem to have this problem. This would be my second set of both and I only have 80K miles. Not good!

It's going into the shop on Monday. I thought I would start this thread and give the final details of what the problem is so if anyone else gets this sort of problem it'll help diagnose it a lot quicker.

If by top tier gas you mean brand name and not a grocery store, it doesn't matter. They tested different types of gas in EVO a couple issues back. They said what matters is how frequently the tanks are refilled. The freshness of gas is what matters, not brand.

I don't use additives.

Re: Engine Trouble...again

Well I'll tell you that I would have to partially agree. My fathers 2002 when started is really loud and tinny sounding and rough for like the first 5 minutes. He was told by another guy that he should stop using cheap gas. He switched to Shell gas and all is good. He was told to run a cleaner or shell gas, but we were under the impression that all shell gas had it in but now found out that only the high grade is the good stuff. but it's all fixed now that he's switch to shell.
