Do you wear your seatbelt?

After reading through this site that Boingo posted, it got me thinking:

http://www.car-accidents.com/pages/c...ent_photo.html

It continuously amazes me that there are still people out there who
don't wear their seat-belts.

So be honest, Do you wear your seatbelt? Do you make your passengers wear their seatbelts?

Yeah...definently, even if I don't have to

After seeing actually live accidents in Italy, I'd wouldn't think twice of it.

Even if I hadn't been raised by worry-wart parents...I still would. I work at a newspaper, and in the past 1.5 years that I've worked here, EVERY motor-vehicle fatality has been an unbelted person. Recently it was a family of four who rolled their 2002 Nissan Frontier pickup on the freeway, after drinking and driving. Everyone was ejected. The parents landed in the median, and died. The 2 year old and 4 year old kids landed in oncoming traffic, but lived with injuries.

See, that's the main thing that pisses me off. The parents are old enough to make their own decisions, but those kids are innocent, and don't know any better... They have no true understanding of the consequences of their actions. I think parents who don't make their children wear their seatbelts should be charged with attempted murder (or murder if they are involved in a car wreck where their child dies from not being belted in).

At the VERY LEAST, it's criminal neglect!

To tell the truth, I've heard of cases where if the parents survive and there kids don't, (and they weren't wearing a seatbelt)were charged with manslaughter and/or child abuse/neglect.

I would have to say that I never wear my seatbelt... I know, thats really bad, but I never did when I was a kid, so I never ecen think about it when I get in the car. WHen I'm in someone elses car and they tell me to do it, I will, so its not some "macho" thing. its more of a, "I don't even think of it" thing

So, when you have kids, are you going to belt them in? Or are you just not going to think about it?

Most definitely. The tickets aren't worth not wearing them.

Now here in Va. Beach, kids under the age of 6 have to sit in a carseat!

Can you believe that!?!

The government is just looking for new ways to make quick money!

WHATTT????

First they make up a whole bunch of "traffic rules" designed to keep us safe, and NOW they want our children PROTECTED IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT??? Ridiculous!!! Big-people seatbelts are fine for 6-and under kids! Who cares if the belt doesn't fit properly and falls on their neck instead of shoulder??? It's all just a big SCAM. They're trying to rip us off...requiring that kids be safely restrained. Sheesh.

Like your new avatar Boingo!

I agree... Here, it's not based on age, it's based on a height/weight. I don't remember what the height/weight requirement is, but any child below it has to be in a seat.

Oh god......another conspiracy theorist.Do you have children under 6 ,damien? At 15,I very much doubt it.Perhaps when you do,you will know exactly what it is that you are talking about.

I am amazed that parents who lack the basic common sense to strap their children in correctly ever managed to conceive in the first place.

Nice new avatar....but I could have dealed without the sarcasm

Honestly though, this should be moved to a different forum soon.

The government shouldn't be able to make us pay money to them because of what we want to do and whether are kids are buckle up or not. They have no right to tell us how to raise OUR kids, even though I'm only 15 (meaning I have no kids).

I'd add more, but I'm better at defending and letting the other person get their bull$hit out, hint the fact I wanna be a criminal defense attorney! (meant no offense to you though boingo82, just the lawyer coming out in me)
