Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

I can tell you from alot of experience with system installations, that it will be mostly all bass, not highs..... Right now in my 92 firebird I have a 8 speaker system, that thumps real loud, bass and highs... You might want to put 10" speakers instead of 12".. 12" might not fit, 10" will fit in a box that sits perfect in the back.. I know on ebay motors they sell custom enclosures for 10" speakers, not sure if they have them for 12" at least for a firebird... Check that out, if they have a enclosure for 12" speakers for a firebird you will have no problem... I can tell you what I got in my firebird : The 4 stock speakers, also 2-10" speakers and 2-6x9 speakers in the back.. The 10" speakers and the 6x9's are hooked up to a 800 watt power acoustic amp...

If anything make your own custom enclosure for the 12" if you buy them. Just take some dimensions of the trunk to see how much room you have to work with..

Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

I dig my stock stereo.
Wouldn't be able to hear anything over the exhaust anyways.

I used to be into stereos. Installed a pretty nice system in my old Grand Am.
You will need a box, wiring, an amp, and time to install Erdal. Not going to be $50 to get them working. More like $400.
In my opinion, kinda a waste in a sporty car like ours. All it does it add weight.

so man,

why wouldnt 12'' speakers fit on trunk? also do u have any pics custom sopeakers on firebird? or any idea about excat the same place to put? do l have to cut anywhere on trunk? how am l gonna hook up?

just need some instructions actually..

they are 800 watt each so l will have 1600 watt plus those little speakers 150 watt each..

well l wanna put 2 speakers on my trunk and make my car sounds crazy..

can l install those by myself??

Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

You don't have enough power to push those subs without an amplifier Erdal.

Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

Walmart speakers most likely suck man.

Stereo stuff is pretty much 'get what you pay for.'
Meaning the cheaper it is, the lower quality it is.
My old subs were 12" subs and cost me $325 EACH.

You need an amp, lots of wiring, a box for the subs, and time. Custom box costs around $200. Wiring...probably $50-75. Amp...depends on if you go cheaper. My old amps cost me $550 each, and I was running two of them.

Of course...I was running Orion shit at the time. Top of the line back then.

Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

Hey doodad , I hav a cute drawing of my speaker box w/12" in my firechicken..... I dont hav the box here or Id get the exact deminsions.
The overall hieght is about 16-17", and the depth is 22-24"(it doesnt hav to be that deep) and width is about 32'.
my box started as a square because I'm a dumb ass and didnt measure the clearance at the very back of the glass, so it hit/rubbed the window, and I took it back apart and cut it down. Measure 4-5 times cut once!

Mine doesnt hav subs, they are 250w Thump Loud speakers, wich carries mid-lows(lots of guitars and drums) then the highs and mids are going to the rest of the typical speaker spots. I just hav a Pioneer ST and a Jenson 200amps.

Cost me 120$ for the 3/4" ply and a box of screws, 30$ for the terminal connections(two from Radioshack) and some good speaker wire(16g for the smaller speakers and 14g to the subs) $30, and the speakers $200pair. Under $400 and its heavy and tuff! Thats --the radio/amps though, thats another $300+.

The yello lines are ports, the red obviously the speakers.
It has a middle devider, thats ported to each half to balance them. And ports in the front, about the size of the bottom of a moose cup(dont ask).
Just giving you some ideas, enjoy.

Firechicken

Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

yeah you are right..

well even if everyone would be like angel, l still cant get expensive system.. cuz l dont have.. if l wouldnt have spent 6k bucks on my bird, now l would have 500wrhp l guess.. because as soon as l got the car, l found this site and then l saw everyone makes their car faster and l decided too.. and first thing l got TURBONATOR SUPERCHARGER and then break downs started...

Re: speakers/ audio system question!!!

This is what I had in my '94...though it cost some money to get it all right...
and 12"s fit...thats what these were. I also has an aftermarket head that could pysh my mids and highs enough to compensate for the subs.
