Autometer Cobalt gauges

So i finally went to Summit and bought the Autometer Cobalt series gauges. Boost, Oil pressure, and Water temp. First thing i'd like to say about them is - HOLY SHIT! The ones i had are still good gauges (Autometer Sport Comp series), i just didn't like the plain looks anymore. It also turns out that my Sport Comp boost gauge was out of calibration. It read 15-16 vac at idle, and around 14-15 psi of boost. My new Cobalt boost gauge reads 20vac at idle, and was only reading 11psi! So i had to up the boost a tad. The vac surprised the hell out of me. I don't think i've ever seen any other eclipse with vac greater than 18. I believe anything between 17-21 is perfect...
They told me at Summit that the Cobalts/C2's were supposedly the most precise. I'm glad i went with these gauges. They're sexy as all hell at night too lol. Installation was even easier with the Cobalts too. I'll have to get some pics of them soon.

Re: Autometer Cobalt gauges

I want pics! But how do you know it's not the cobalts that are innacurate?

Re: Autometer Cobalt gauges

vacuum shouldnt be that low. Idle should be ~15in/hg but varies with elevation. Are you selling your old gauges?

Re: Autometer Cobalt gauges

all it means is there is more restriction to air entering the motor when the throttle is closed

Re: Autometer Cobalt gauges

Idle vac is all about the cams

Stock cams - 18-20"
most aftermarket cams - 10-15"

Re: Autometer Cobalt gauges

The ghetto rigged boost guage in my avatar is a Cobalt. Definately the sexiest guages you can get.
