Replace CV Boots or Half Shafts?

93.5 G20 with 96K needs both outer CV boots as they are torn. I have called many places and keep getting a different opinion as to whether or not to replace just boots (more labor intensive) or the whole half shafts (less labor increased parts costs). This is consisistent with previous posts. My questions are:

I typically subscribe to the theory that if it ain't broken don't fix it, so which to replace boots or half shafts?

For those who have done this replacement, how much time can I expect to put into the job for each method?

I say half shafts. I've heard that if you replace the boot only, it doesn't seal like new. A half shaft on my Sentra was $65 after core refund. Replacement took about 1/2 hr for my dad and I.
