GM Defect

Just so everyone is aware. Last night on the news there was about a 30 minute breakdown about GM and interviews etc,,,, There is a defect in about 20+ different makes/models of GM brand vehicles.. Occuring around your Headgaskets,,, Leaking coolant into it and causing your motor to go poop, like mine did..

They posted a number 1-800-263-3777 is the toll free number. Even if your car is past the warrenty period i suggest you call them, because they are honoring customers on a case by case priority. Mine was and the new motor that i purchased, i am being refunded by GM. Just a little heads up. Sorry I wasnt able to copy down all the makes/models, i was busy writing down the number.

Anyways hope that helps out some people.

Re: GM Defect

News departments are getting very adept at reporting GM recalls/troubles....afterall,they have been getting plenty of practice. And who really would have thought that the X-car fiasco would have been the last of GMs public relations boo boos....
Of course GM isnt the only company that has cut corners on product....
Chrysler in the 80s dictated that supplier Victor(Dana) supply them with head gaskets for 2.2 liter engines that cost 1/2 the normal price.Victor balked, but in the end Chrysler won and tens of thousands of headgasket failures later cost owners millions. Ford did the same thing with their piston ring supplier in the early 90s.They had them cheapened to the point they didnt break in,and pumped oil at an alarming rate.Ford's warranty procedure was to replace the cylinder heads first (this was 302 and 351 V8s),and if the oil consumption continued to replace the entire engine.Wonder what that cost Ford by saving a few dollars on each ring set,and spending tens of millions in warranty work?
