Swap the turbo from a Hyundai Scoupe into a Accent?
i have recently found out that the Hyundai Scoupe shares the same engine as us 95-99 accent owners (the G4EK) except with one major difference. The scoupe came in a GT model that was Turbocharged. Theoretically we should be able to use the same manifold off the scoupe and put it on the accent. Also maybe find a small turbo like a t3, or a T-25 and hope the flanges are the same. Can this work? does anybody have any ideas or input?

Re: Cheap easy turbo for an Accent? No BS
After posting the idea of puttig a turbo on the Accent, i did alot of research on the Scoupe. It turns out that the scuope is a very hard car to come by these days, especially were i live at. I tried to find out what the horsepower difference is between the two, so here they both are.The scoupe is on the left and the Accent is on the right. Both are the 1995 model.
Engine Size: 1.5L,......... 1.5L Number of Cylinders: Turbocharged Inline 4,......... Inline 4 Engine Type: Gas,......... Gas Camshaft: Single overhead cam (SOHC),......... Single overhead cam (SOHC) Horsepower: 115 hp @ 5500 rpm,......... 92 hp @ 5500 rpm Torque: 123 ft-lbs @ 4000 rpm,......... 96 ft-lbs @ 3000 rpm as you can see there is not a considerable difference between the two, but definately enough to make me want to try to get this turbo to work on my car. Also i would like to find out what they set the Scoupe at, as far as stock boost is concerned. I am thinking it is prolly set at 6.5 psi, but i am not sure on that number. Once again any ideas, input, or criticisim would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. {LK} Mario |
