CO2 Leaking into the drivers compartment
I have noticed the past few years that a slight CO2 problem when I drive
150 miles and over in my 1996 LS Blazer 2Dr 4X4 with 83000 miles. I use regular gasoline and maintain the truck every 20000 miles tune up 3000 oil change throttle cleaning ect ect,.. Has anyone else had this problem , I have taken it to a few stations and they checked it out and said there was no problem when checked. I have just changed the oil the air filter and have installed a new pvc valve. This only happens duing a very long trip over 100+ miles. One station manager said that the CO2 wouldn't be slight it would be very noxious and you would pass out right away. I just taken the truck through inspection and it passed all CO2 Hydrocarbons Testings in New Jersey... If anyone else has these problems please respond back to my message Thanks...

I am assuming that you mean CO - Carbon Monoxide vs. CO2 - Carbon Dioxide. CO2 is pretty much harmless, whereas CO can cause some significant problems, the first indications of which are headaches and nausea.
Have you checked for any pinhole leaks in the exhaust directly under the drivers compartment?? And, how are you getting your readings regarding CO?

I was told that a faulty oxygen sensor that overheats would result in a
smell that would get into the driver side vents. But I had it checked and it was okay. CO ( I said CO2) and hydrocarbon levels looked okay when the truck passed state inspection last month..It may be a exhaust leak from the engine coming into the air vents from the heater core. I'm stumped because the truck was checked and rechecked. I wonder if using fuel additives in the gasoline produces that smell when driving 150 miles and over. I have used them in the past to clean my fuel injector.

CO is odorless and colorless which is why it is so dangerous. If you are smelling something then it is most likely not CO.
Do you mean SO2 - sulfur dioxide? Mark

I get a smell in my Blazer but that is oil dripping onto the exhaust system from a leaking rear engine crankshaft seal but after 260,000 miles on an untouched original engine I can't really complain.
See if you have engine oil or transmission fluid droping onto the hot exhaust system Mark
