94 Golf will not start

I have a 94 golf with a 2 litre. I did a number of repars on the car last summer, ran excellent, sat for the winter, and now it won't start. Previously i replaced the head gasket, distributer cap, plugs, wires, rotor, knock sensor, o2 sensor, exhaust. the car ran like knew.

over the winter, the battery died. charged it.

try to start the car and it cranks like crazy but nadda. radio, fan, lights all good, fuses all good, when you put the key in the ignition, all the dash lights come on BUT the check engine light. no power to the fuel pump (jumped it and works great), no power to the fuse for the fuel pump, no spark, 12 volts to the outer pins on the distributer.

there is the fuse for the ecu but it's good and looks like it's sending power but nothing happens. everything else works great. no gas, no spark.

help....please.

The immobilizer is the anti-theft device. Its behind the light switch on the dash. Push the light switch in and then turn to the right and pull the switch out. Its either a black box or silver box.

yes its behind the lightswitch. Every vw had it. Depending on the year its called the "alarm module" or "immobilizer modoule"

Re: 94 Golf will not start

hi,

thanks for the reply but, I've tried to undo the light switch by turning it as you described but it just wont undo and I dont want to break it.
My car is a 1999 2.0GL Golf Manual made in Mexico and I'm in Canada - you sure I've got this 'alarm module' / 'imobilizer module' ?

... and to the original poster - have you sorted your problem out now or not?
