Question Service Engine Soon???????

I took the car into Autozone and they put the machine on it. It came back with the code PO441. Something about emission purge failure or emission valve purge failure......something like that. What could it be?? Is it easy to fix?? Any help would be great....thanks.

GPGT 1997.

Re: Service Engine Soon???????

For your model and year GP it is a Evaporative Emissions Control System Incorrect Purge Flow. The PCM will detect a purge solenoid stuck closed by monitoring the Evap. Purge Vacuum switch state when the Evap Purge solenoid duty cycle is > 85%. The switch state is currently low (closed) therefore the P0441 triggers.

Check the vaccum line running from the charcoal cannister and vent solenoid to the purge solenoid located at the engine. The purge solenoid is located in front of the front fuel injector rail and fed vacuum from the throttle body. Also, check the electrical connection at the purge solenoid. You may have a flaky purge solenoid.

The evaporative purge solenoid is circled in red. You'll see the vacuum line connections and electrical connection.

So basically just check the hoses that are connected to that solenoid valve??

Make sure they are not ripped or lose? If they are replace...right?

Thats it?

Thats correct for a starter. Also remove the electrical connector and reseat. When you pull the incoming vacuum line which routes from the throttle body check for vacuum. I can provide voltages and pins to check at the electrical connector later if you have a mulitmeter.

Re: Service Engine Soon???????

They should have never existed. Daewoo should have stuck to cheap VCR's, not building cars.

Thats only the tip of the iceberg. GM has another econobox smaller than the Aveo called the Chevy Spark. Its made by Daewoo too. See link below:
