I have a 95 riviera with a broken column. the column can move back and forth but locks fine for up and down movement. my question is does anyone know if this column is a specific one for these cars or are all gm cars equipped with the same column. also is there anyway i can just buy parts to fix the broken pins inside the column or do i need to find an entire replacement column. thanx.

Re: steering column question
im not really sure about the 95 vs 96-99 riviera difference(they switch a lot of things in 96 i dont rem. if rach size or collum was one of them) but most gm cars have different collums and racks. you can find a used one in a junk yard or buy them online new/referb. i've never dont a swap so i cant tell you how to go about doing that. i have heard of people replacing just the pin at the top or bottom of the collum to eliminate the rattle the steering wheel gets over time but i dont know how or if that would fix your prob.

Re: steering column question
the columns are the same 95 - 99 as long as you get the same type you have (radio controls or no radio controls)
