Wink Re: P1404 EGR 2 Position Error

Rich is tied up with carb questions. (lol) Sounds like a bad egr, the valve has position sensors built in and based on pcm commands the sensors feed back the position of the pintle. He will be here to correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, trying to help hot rodder wanna be's over in the Chevelle and non-specific forums, SHEESH. I agree with Max, sounds like an EGR problem, possibly stuck with carbon, and needs replacement. That code essentially means that the EGR isn't opening as commanded by the PCM like he said.

What year, model & engine size GP?

P1404 is an EGR Valve Circuit Performance Error. The PCM has detected that the EGR valve is stuck partially or full open based on feedback voltage from the pintle position sensor.

Re: P1404 EGR 2 Position Error

how did this turn out? i have the same code. p1404. it occurred twice, once last week, and again yesterday. the ses light came on and went off last wk, but has been on continuously since yesterday.

did the egr need replacing or did a cleaning take care of it? will a good cleaning fix this problem?
