How Big Can I Go?

I have a 2002 sunfire 2dr. and i wanna get some rims. I know 17" are a sure bet, but would i be able to get 18" in there with no rubbing or modification? if so, what sizes?

thanks!

also, if you have a sunfire/cavalier with 18" rims please post a pic i would liek to see what they look like, preferably with a mr7 style look in hyper black on a red car lol

Re: How Big Can I Go?

Just go onto the discount tire web site and see what the max is that the stock specs can handle. They like to play things safe so they dont get alot of complaints so what ever series tires they say can fit onto 18's will be a sure bet.

Re: How Big Can I Go?

Fitting an 18" rim won't be a problem but you'll probably need a lower profile tire.

Re: How Big Can I Go?

18s will fit. Just use 225/40/18 tires and you'll be good.

Re: How Big Can I Go?

biggest w/o changing anything or rolling fenders are 19"s with 40-42mm offset and 225/35-19's.

Not if you buy Motegi Trak-lites.. Even the 19"s weight less than stockers... ha ha. But then again not everyone can afford 250+/ rim.

Re: How Big Can I Go?

19's on a cavalier... or even 18's good lord why.

your ride will be crap, and itll look down right retarted to boot.
im sure someone will say differant but if your going for performance 16" is a good bet to go, and handling you wont see a noticable differance between 17-18. the wider 17x7 tire is great for handling, better than an 18" wheel...

not everyone is about speed, speed limit is 65mph, you can hit 65 mph with no problem with 18's, hell, even 19's

personal opinion i guess, i think it looks stupid becouse there is no performance benefit. a complete waste of money to impress the 1/100 people that actually think big crazy rims are cool. like i said tho, personal opinion, its not my car, my post was refering to performance as this is the performance section.
