Why I love my Topaz

I've got 1 of the few 86 Mercury Topaz Diesel's which I had stored for the winter.

I just insured it 2 days ago and did the regular maintence but nothing special, then I took it for a 1100 km road trip (about 660 miles)

This 20 year old car never missed a beat during that time, the temp stayed right where it should and everything was perfect.

I used 61 Litres of fuel during this trip. That's somewhere around 16 US gallons.

To bad that Ford didn't continue putting Diesels in their small cars, They would have given VW a real run for their money (if not beaten them out)

92 Topaz

I have found the same thing with my topaz as I have drove it from florida to New mexico about 10 times. I only paid 50.00 for it and it still runs like a naked ape.

Re: 92 Topaz

My topaz is now sitting on stands waiting on an answer of the transmission man. It not shifting out of first to second, I found a plastic gear in the trans pan thinking its the speedo gear and with out it I beleave the govenor wont allow the fluid to transmit the required fluid to its compoents as required to shift. Any Suggestion would help!

Re: Why I love my Topaz

Welcome to AF Dogrocksee

I really can't see much being wrong with the transmission. The Tempo / Topaz is often called Ford's best vehiclr since the Model T.

They'll probably have it moving in no time.

That's a very good price that you got yours for, I paid $1500 Canadian about 5 years from an aunt. It was in pretty good shaope to start with.

You can click on this link

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...play.php?f=618
which will bring you to the main board
or you could also click on the Nonspecific button at the top.

Next click on New Thread
You'll have to make a good descriptive name for your question.
Then do your right up in the bigger box
When your done just slick the submit new thread button at the bottom

To add photo's you'll need them on some web space. It can be through Car Domain or any other host site (even your own web page like I use)
Get the address of the pic http://www.kvsbt.com/stu%27s/Stu%27s...dsc00988sm.jpg
before the pic you will want to type in [img] just the way you see it and after the pic you want to see this [/img
so it looks like this

without the spaces. (sorry that it's on 2 lines, and it doesn't have to be, I'm using the computer at work and it has some issues)

I'll be happy to answer any more questions that I can, please feel free to post them here since it's easiest for you at the moment.
Not all responses get forwardrd to me for some reason, but I'll try checking back every few days for a little while.
