dual exhaust conversion

Just last weekend, I traded in my 2000 coupe V6 for a 2000 convertible V6. I was sad to part with dual exhaust, but i got a good deal. Here's the situation, I am in school at Ohio State=my personal funds were limited. I got $6,800 trade in value for my coupe, and had $2,500 to use on whatever I wanted. So I upgraded to a convertible with half as many miles on it. Thing is, no dual exhaust like I had on my coupe. So basically, I am in need of help in finding out how to convert my single exhaust into dual (definately want true duals). I know people are going to say I should have bought a GT to begin with, but there weren't any in my area, and being a full time student makes it hard to earn enought money for a good GT. I would like to know the process of what I have to do to get true dual exhaust, where I should take the car to get this done, could I do this with a friend who has done stuff like this before, or just basically, what the hell am I supposed to do. I have a little over $500, so any and all advice is much appreciated.

Do a google search to find websites like MAC, BBK, Magnaflow, ect. Check out what they have to offer for your car. I'd say you could get a mid-pipe that will bolt to your stock exhaust manifolds. Then buy a catback to bolt to it. You can do all of this yourself. Also check out summitracing.com and jegs.com.

You should just take it to a shop, its about the same price as doing it yourself and a lot of times its cheaper. The price depends on where you live and who you go to but most the time its around $300 for true duals.

Either way you go, whether it be to do it yourself or have a shop do it the expensive way is mid-pipe (h-pipe/x-pipe) & catback. For your V6 I would suggest that you save money and just run duals from the y-pipe back. You can have a shop do that for you as well. You wont see much performance gain with a completely stock heavy V6 car. But I'm with you, its gotta sound good! I'm no V6 expert by any means but if I where you I would google search for some exhaust clips. Maybe you can hear some mufflers on a V6 that you like. As far as true duals go I personally dont think they are worth the extra expense on a V6.

Its a little louder if you run true duals and not just Y pipe back exhaust, do you care about performance?

I personally don't care much about performance. Paying off insurance is enough for me, and I don't want to increase what I pay with aftermarket performance (I've heard insurance goes up if you put in some aftermarket things). I just want to get my V6 to sound like an absolute beast w/o spending more than about $500

Get GT take off's and replace the mufflers with flowmster super 40's then get some MAC long tubes.
