PCV valve

Hello. Does anyone know if anything besides the pcv valve could be damaged from having a clogged pcv valve tube elbow (the intake side). The car is now almost stalling at idle.

Nothing should be damaged but you may need to clean the tubing out that goes from the crankcase through the PCV and to the intake manifold. It will cause carbon buildup and clog things up. Remove the throttle body and clean the intake manifold and the throttle body itself. Also clean the idle air control motor of all the carbon. This should clean it up where it will run better. You also may want to change plugs as they may be fouled.

I put in new plugs and wires a few months ago and it starts perfect, like half a crank. Yesterday I took off the pcv valve and tube that goes to the intake and took it all apart and cleaned it. I ran water through it and it was fine, water came out the other end with no signs of an obstruction. I put it all back on when dry and fired it up and it was bad. So I drove to the parts store and bought a new PCV valve and put it on and fired it up and it ran fine. It still slightly vibrates and pulsates but it's very faint. So it is running a whole lot better but the problem hasn't gone away 100%. When I had it happening at first I took it to a shop and they did a diagnostic on it and hooked it up to the computer because it was almost stalling with no check engine codes and they discovered that the pcv tube elbow that connects to the intake manifold was collapsed and so they replaced that and it ran perfect for a day. It had more power than I've ever felt before and then out of nowhere it went to almost stalling again. I'm going take it back and have them check it out again to see if they can find anything. If they can’t find the problem then I’ll start doing things like cleaning the IAC.

If the car is stalling at idle you may have a vacuum leak... check that elbow, especially the back side of it, and also the cap on the vacuum port on top of the manifold. If it's sucking air, it will stall.
