1994 Toyota Camry Window Will Not Close
Good morning,
An older gent that lives in my neighborhood cannot get his drivers side window to close. I realize that the door panel probably needs to be pulled and the regulator and other parts checked. What is a reasonable cost to have this done in the Washington DC area. Also, WHAT IS A GOOD WAY TO COVER THE WINDOW HOLE WHILE DRIVING, AS HIS WIFE DRIVES THE CAR TOO. Thanks, Richard |

Re: 1994 Toyota Camry Window Will Not Close
Does the window move up or down? Do the controls for the other windows work on the driver's door?
A lot of people wrap the top part of the door with heavy plastic, then tape it down. On the door to my Ford, I removed the motor and used a piece of wood dowling to wedge (I cut it to length) the window closed until I made the repair. Have the owner call the dealership and ask how many hours it would take to replace the motor and how much the motor is. This will give a pretty good idea about how much the repair will cost not knowing exactly what is wrong. Things that can possibly be wrong: window regulator out of align motor failed switch failed wiring shorted |

Re: 1994 Toyota Camry Window Will Not Close
The same thing happened on my wife's '93 last summer. I managed to grab the top of the glass with a pliers and pull it up enough to grab it and pull it up by hand. A LOT of duct tape on the outside held it there. It is probably the cable in the motor regulator mechanism that failed. Once the door panel is off, the repair takes 15 minutes. You can get a new assembly at the dealer for $200+ or on Ebay for about $40. They looked identical to me.
You can find instructions here... http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/ FWIW YMMV |
