1994 camry camseal replacement

I have a 1994 2.2 Toyota Camry. I am getting ready to change my water pump, timing belt and possibly my cam seal. I have an oil leak that is worse in cold weather and appears to be up high on the right side of the motor behind the timing belt covers. Is there a tool to get the seal out or has someone out there done this and found something that made the job a bit easier???? Thanks in advance for your help....jburgess56

Re: 1994 camry camseal replacement

It's not getting the cam seal out - but putting the new one in.
For removal, I used a "hook and pick" set to hook the cam seal and pry it out.
For installation I purchased a $50 installation tool from toolsource.com which made it very easy - bolt threads through a cup that fits the cam seal and presses it in. Problem is there's very little clearance between the strut tower and the cam seal. Have heard an alternate method is to remove the #1 cam bearing cap, but I think you need to use sealant (like Toyota FIPG) to prevent oil leaks afterward. If you could afford it, I'd go with the installation tool because it make the job so simple.
