Opaque Headlights

I'm looking at buying a 1994 Thunderbird and the headlights are very opaque. I saw pictures of new headlights and they aren't like this. Is there a way to clean them or something? The dealer suggest buffing it off what should I use? Thanks

Re: Opaque Headlights

There are plastic polishes available at auto parts stores and auto paint supply stores. They should be able to tell you which one will work best for you.

go over to tccoa.com. big mike has a headlight cleaning business....... prices are very reasonable. you send him your lights and he sends you cleaned ones for a really good price.

Re: Opaque Headlights

Thanks guy's that really helps. I didn't really want to spend $100 on new headlights just because they didn't look good...

Re: Opaque Headlights

I own a 93 Thunderbird and cleaned my Headlight the easy way.

I used Soft Scrub (cleaning agent) and Liquid Gold (furniture polish)

My Right side head light was replaced and I can't afford to replace the Left side yet and it didn't pass inspection.

My left side was badly yellowed I couldn't see in side of it and it was so Dull looking.

I covered the Headlight in Soft Scrub and let it dry before washing it off , The yellow just came right off. It still has a tint of yellow but I can now see in it and it looks clear and clean.
I sprayed Liquid Gold ( furniture polish on it and shined it up instead of Windex).

My car passed inspection and has been through a rain storm and still looks great.

The inspector asked me if it was a special replaced Headlight and if I was going to replace the other one as well.

I have a before and after pic, Just email me by clicking on my name in th eupper left hand corner and send me an email.
