'92 Jetta stalls at idle

I have a '92 Jetta, 1.8L gas, manual trans ~ 193k miles. It was running fine until the other day. I pulled into a parking lot and as soon as I clutched and let off the gas, it stalled dead-just like I had turned off the ignition. I was able to get it started again, but if I take my foot off the gas, stalls dead. I can crank it all day and it will turn over but not fire. If I press down slightly on the gas, fires right up like new. As long as I keep the gas pedal depressed a little she keeps running. let it off to idle and it dies....Help?
