haveing a problem w/Trans.

I have a 98 Dodge Grand Caravan. It started showing the check eng. light. So I had it scanned and came up with these 2 codes
P1788 - pressure control solenoid B open-circuit

P0700 - trans. control system malfunction

Is there anyone out there that could tell me how to fix this problem

Thank you in advance

You might find something at www.Allpar.com. Sounds like a for sure electrical problem but, have you been using nothing but ATF-4 fluid. If not, have it flushed and refilled. Well.. at least you're back up to the top of the forum.

Well yes and no. Chrysler recently stated ATF-4 can now be used in ATF-3 applications. In fact, I think I read somewhere that Chrysler is no longer making ATF-3. Personnally, I've got doubts about the whole situation so I would stick with whatever fluid type your manual states. In that respect, yes you are correct - use ATF-3 in a 98.

Re: haveing a problem w/Trans.

If you have the transmission completely flushed there should be no problem. I recently had the ATF-4 replaced with ATF-3 and no (new) problems...From what I have read, ATF-4 is only second best for our minivans and can cause a variety of problems. The cars are designed for ATF-3 and that is what I will continue to use.

Remove the negative battery terminal and let it set for a few hours. That erases the computer memory.
