Re: Need a Turbo!

Yes you can turbo it, but it all depends on what you want your car to do. You need to answer that first, think how much $$ your willing to spend, rethink it somemore, then come back and let us know.

Re: Need a Turbo!

Its up to you, personally I dont think its worth it to turbo it. U wont get too far with 400 dollars for all the stuff u need for turbo. My brother is putting a new turbo, intercooler, etc in his skyline, its running over a grand and thats him installing it himself. Plus unless the engine is built for it, it will put a lot of stress on the engine. Up to you LMK how things go

Re: Need a Turbo!

well the 94 cav with the 3.1 runs about 150 HP stock, i had the engine rebuilt, so she's pretty close the original spec, i put a cold air intake on her, and she's got the FlowMaster 40 series muffler and cat with 2 1/4 inch pipe for exhaust. it gave her a nice dose of power lol, she sounds great too, i need to get it on a dyno though to know the exact crap, i've run it up to 120 Mph clocked, it's a good runner.

Re: Need a Turbo!

turbo u can get for 400...but if ur lookin for a turbo setup/kit, and intercooler your gonna be spending anywhere from 1000 for junkyard parts and 2000-3500 for a new kit

Re: Need a Turbo!

Yea turbo alone new will run you the 400 right there. You'll need to find someone who makes the exhaust manifold for one of the side. I do not know of anyone who makes them for that engine off hand. So your lookin at a one off peice. All charge piping will have to be custom, couplers and clamps, you don't have to use an intercooler if you want to save money, but i'd advise it, wastegate unless your turbo is internally gated. BOV, oil feed and return lines, turbo timer, Wideband O2 sensor, all gaskets, down pipe and flange for the exhaust side of turbo... a few other odd and ends as well. Also you'll have to look at the bottom price on the gas sign at the gas station. You HAVE to run 93 min in your car. So i wish you luck my friend. If you start to research some of the cost of those parts you may start to think other wise. If you want to play, your gonna have to pay.

Re: Need a Turbo!

Maybe consider Nitrous as an alternative. If used wisely its just as much fun.

Re: Need a Turbo!

You also have your numbers messed up, the 3.1 had 140 horses and, in 94, had 185 lb/ft torque. They also breathed pretty decently on their own...so I doubt what you have is really netting that much power.

And I'll 2nd what everyone else is saying about the cost of a turbo setup.
