Hi im new here and i have a question. My 95 jeep Cherokee Sport was doing sometihing wierd a few weeks ago. After making a hard right turn i started to take off and my tranny slamed into gear and the gas peddle wouldnt go down at all. I drove it all the way home and the nexted day it was fine as if nothing was wrong with it. Then a week later i made another hard right and it did it again. My dad drove it and it happened to him twice in the same way. We looked at the vaule body and nothing seemed wrong. Has anyone..anyone have this problem before?

Im thinking transfer case. It could be the sproket and chaine in there. that could make the car do that.

i would think engine and tranny mounts should be inspected motor mounts are easy to tell if there bad get someone to watch your motor while you depress the gas while in drive with your other foot holding the brakes so the car wont move might have to give it a bit of gas to make it move but if there that bad youll see the whole motor rotate a bit make sure your observer stands off to the side so you dont mow them down if your foot slips off the brake

I cast my vote for a bad mount (motor/tranny). This only seems to happen when you make hard right turns.... What do you mean when you say "my tranny slammed into gear"???? I am assuming the vehicle is already in drive as you make your hard turn.... is it downshifting?....this would make more sense since there is a kick down cable attached to the throttle body. Probably not a good idea to drive the vehicle until to confirm the mount status.... if an engine mount should fail you could be in for all sorts of unexpected actions.... like a stuck open throttle valve. mike 00XJ |
