'87 engine in '92 grand am

I was wondering if it was possible to put a '87 2.5L Grand Am engine into a '92 Grand Am that has a 2.3L. What would have to be altered and if the wiring would be the same. Please help!

Personally I think its more work than its worth. You would have to change the engine harness, ecm, transmission, clutch, motor mounts, exhaust, probably a bunch of other parts I'm too tired to think of right now. What's wrong with your 2.3?

Engine seized up. I let my sister borrow the car for a couple weeks and she never checked the oil and she seized it up! So if anyone has a 2.3L let me know......

I would stick with the 2.3 for the car. The 2.5 will be a lot of work to convert like skibum said, plus the 2.5 is very sluggish in comparison to the 2.3. There was also a V6 available too, either the 3.1 or 3.3 I can't remember, thats another alternative, wouldn't be as much work.

Changing to the 3.1 is more work than you want to get into. You would have to change the engine harness, dash harness, ecm, instrument cluster, transmission, exhaust, cv shafts, god knows what else. Is your 2.3 a single cam or double cam?
