Engine feels like its bogging down...?

Ok, heres the problem.
When I start up my Lude, and more so for the first 20 to 30 minutes I drive my Lude, it feels like my car is bogging down when I shift gears, particularly 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Its like a total loss of power, and to get it to stop, I have to give a alot more gas, any idea what the problem would be?
Its an 84' Prelude, Original dual Carb engine.

Re: Engine feels like its bogging down...?

sounds like its flooding or lack of compression.

Well for the fuel thing, if your the one with a backwards fuel filter, that might do it also an easy way to check for excess fuel consumption is pull the spark plug and see if it 'wet' with gasoline.

As for the compression, i'd take it to a shop and for 60-75 bucks you can get a compression test done on it.

Re: Engine feels like its bogging down...?

ok, i'll check the gasoline thing in the morning, though my car isnt giving me any problems today, it just wanted to be lazy yesterday im guessing.

as for the compression test, i hate mechanics, they charge an arm and a leg for anything nowadays.
Like yesterday, i called this one place to see if they would lower my car, and the dumbass wanted to charge 900 bucks all together for it!
then i found another that would do it for 500, so...yeah.

Back on subject, i guess i'll have to get the compression test done.

Let me know how your compression test goes.

Old engines and old valves are notorious for loosing compression through the exhaust and fuel delivery.
