98 caviler not starting
Car is cranking over, fuel pump is turning on, but car will just crank and crank and crank... any ideas? This is my bosses car and would love to fix it for him. Its almost like its out of gas but it shows 1/4 tank.
Matt Thanks in advance |

Re: 98 caviler not starting
ive learned from experience that when a 1998 fuel guage reads 1/4, it can still be out of gas, what surprised me about it was that before that happened, i have had my fuel guage almost to empty and it was still running fine, but that time it ran out at 1/4, try putting a few gallons in it (its not like it wont get used anyways)

Re: 98 caviler not starting
If putting gas in it doesn't work and the fuel filter is fine, I would recommend making sure it has spark. If not, check the plugs, wires and coil packs and all electrical connections to the ICM. If all of that is good, then check the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the wires to it. If you're not sure how to do this, let me know, I can give you a rundown.
