Looking into stealth rt/tt

Alright, so I have been researching cars for a long time time (about a year) for my next car, i went from a 3000gt to a stealth (same thing tho) because i like the stealth's looks more.
I decided on the rt/tt since it is 4WD and has AWS and runs mid 13's.
What should i look for when looking at them?
I know the basic fluid levels, engine wear, and to check the turbo's for any signs of major wear. Basically im looking for any year with around 90k on it. Any idea how much im looking at spending? I figured around 6500 or so.
I have been driving, and i do SCCA and take my car to the track on weekend, so i figure the stealth is the perfect car for me.
I currently have a really nice miata for refrence

Re: Looking into stealth rt/tt

A 90k 3S TT would have to be in some rough condition (for only 6.5k) unless you got a steal. Check to see if the 60k was done. And go through the regular check such as engine noises, noises made while your driving, etc.

Best of luck

Check out our FAQ. It's pretty comprehensive.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Looking into stealth rt/tt

yeah, i looked at the faq, read all that.
Just wondering if 6500 may be too little for a rt turbo?
i know one of my friends bought one with 152k on it for 4200, it was in perfect shape with all records, just high miles. Old man that had it

Re: Looking into stealth rt/tt

^^ You may be able to find a high mileage one for that price. It's not always easy to find a the exact 3S you just for the fact that there isn't a large surplus of them. It would be different if you were looking for a Stang or something similar. How ever if you are looking for a stealth you'll probably have a better chance than just seeking out a 3kgt since they made more Stealths.

Re: Looking into stealth rt/tt

I may look into a 3000gt, but i want the twin turbo VR-4. I doubt id find one in my price range, and I'm not going to sell my miata lol

Eitherway, i just want the AWD and turbo, figure 3000gt's cost more to begin with didn't they, so they would hold value better?

SCCA is what type of racing? Autocross? If so I wouldn't choose a 3S, you would want something like a DSM.

Re: Looking into stealth rt/tt

SCCA is everything from autocross, ralley, track days, then road rally thingy. Probably some more wierd forms of racing but for a track day i think a RT/TT would be ok btw i thought only the first years had AWS.

agreed.

If your doing autocrossing type races, while the 3/S TT's with AWD are good for the purpose, there are other cars that would be better, especially the DSM. If you want something cheap, look for a 1st gen GSX Eclipse, or Eagle Talon TSI AWD, or Plymouth Laser Turbo AWD. Put on a big 16g, supporting mods, and call it a day.
